AI Contract Overview
The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) is launching a new funding opportunity to establish the Impact of Genomic Variation on Function (IGVF) Data and Coordinating Center (DACC). This center will act as the hub for the IGVF Consortium, tasked with enhancing and maintaining a publicly accessible set of resources, including a data portal and a detailed catalog that catalogs both measured and predicted impacts of genomic variants. In addition to managing these resources, the DACC will collaborate closely with the research community to refine the catalog's design, coordinate consortium activities, and explore partnerships with other scientific programs and consortia to amplify the consortium's scientific contributions. The solicitation for applications is planned for publication in 2025, with an application deadline expected later that year, and will utilize the U24 activity code, which excludes clinical trials. This notice aims to provide prospective applicants ample time to form collaborative teams and develop projects aligned with the consortium’s goals. The contract is administered under the National Institutes of Health, within the Department of Health and Human Services, and key contact for inquiries is Dr. Stephanie A. Morris at the NHGRI. The overall objective is to accelerate the understanding of genomic variation by fostering data sharing, collaboration, and comprehensive resource development within the IGVF Consortium framework.

Full Description
The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) intends to promote a new initiative by publishing a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to solicit applications for the Impact of Genomic Variation on Function (IGVF) Data and Coordinating Center (DACC). The DACC will serve as the coordinating center for the IGVF Consortium and will be responsible for expanding and further developing a broadly accessible set of resources, including a data portal and a comprehensive and searchable catalog of measured and predicted variant impacts. The DACC will also seek input on the design of the catalog from the broader research community, organize and facilitate consortium activities, and seek opportunities to work with other programs and consortia. As a member of IGVF, the DACC will work with all consortium members to maximize the consortium’s overall scientific impact and contribute to accelerating understanding of genomic variation.
This Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects. The NOFO is expected to be published in 2025 with an expected application due date in 2025. This NOFO will utilize the U24 activity code. Details of the planned NOFO are provided below.
