Special Announcement: Lynnhaven River Basin Ecosystem Restoration Phase 3 Wetland – Crab Creek Dredging & Beneficial Use
The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, would like to invite construction industry contractors to an Industry Day for the upcoming Lynnhaven River Basin Ecosystem Restoration Phase 3 Project, located in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The one-day event will be held both in-person and virtually on Wednesday September 23rd, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EDT). The Norfolk District will provide a conference webinar link and conference call-in information to all interested participants who properly respond by the due date. It is highly encouraged to attend in person as this event will include a site visit to the project site after a brief presentation and Q&A. This event will be held at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation Brock Environmental Center, 3663 Marlin Bay Drive, Virginia Beach, VA, 23455.

The objective of the Industry Day effort is information gathering. The Government will present an overview of the project, the current design, and environmental considerations. The purpose of this presentation is to illicit feedback from construction subject matter experts and firms. Feedback sought includes information regarding means and methods for construction, discussion of best practices, and discussion of anticipated contractor scheduling limitations. The Government is not obligated to and will not pay for any information received from potential sources as a result of this event
Project Overview:
The project propose is restoring approximately 6.6 acres of wetland habitat within the Lynnhaven River. The scope of the project includes the treatment and removal of Phragmites australis along the shoreline, dredging approximately 15,000 cubic yards from Crab Creek channel, transport and placement via beneficial use of the dredged material on the project site and then planting native vegetation. Any additional material will be placed at the Lynnhaven rehandling basin.
The Government will not be conducting one-on-one discussions related to any potential contracts or on- going work under contract during this event. This announcement is not a contract solicitation, request for proposal, promise to issue any future contract, forum to discuss upcoming work, nor commitment to offer work of any kind on the part of the Government. The Army will not assume liability for costs incurred by an attendee or for travel expenses for attending this Industry Day event.
