The VA Mid-Atlantic Healthcare Network Region (VISN 6), Centralized Acquisition Service plans to renew a sole source contract with Thomson Micromedex for the annual subscription to the Micromedex Healthcare Series Drug Information Database. This procurement falls under NAICS code 518112 and will be executed under the authority of FAR 6.302, indicating that the government intends to directly negotiate with a single source. The contract renewal facilitates continued access to critical drug information services essential for healthcare operations. While this is a notice of intent rather than a solicitation, parties capable of meeting the contract requirements were invited to submit capability statements by 4:30 p.m. EST on November 8, 2004, with supporting evidence to demonstrate compliance. The award is expected to be made on November 10, 2004, using simplified acquisition procedures without issuing a formal solicitation. Responses received will be evaluated primarily to determine whether to open the process to competitive procurement; however, the government holds full discretion in deciding not to compete. Inquiries are to be submitted in writing to the designated Contracting Officer, Doris Turner, via fax or email only, and phone calls will not be accepted. This streamlined approach underscores the reliance on Thomson Micromedex as the sole provider of this specialized database, critical to supporting veteran healthcare services within the VA Mid-Atlantic region.
