AI Contract Overview
The Lasker Clinical Research Scholars Program supports early-career clinical researchers by providing a career development pathway that bridges research opportunities within both the NIH Intramural Research Program and extramural institutions. The program consists of two phases: initially, scholars are appointed as tenure-track investigators within the NIH intramural setting for up to 5 to 7 years, receiving independent research budgets. Following this phase, successful scholars can either continue as intramural investigators or receive up to 3 years of NIH funding to conduct research at an extramural facility. This program aims to foster independent research efforts that contribute to improving human health, offering a significant career development opportunity for clinical researchers. Managed by the National Institutes of Health under the Department of Health and Human Services, the program also provides a unique structure to encourage collaboration between NIH's internal research community and external research institutions.
