AI Contract Overview

Hillsborough County plans to award a sole source contract to Metropolitan Ministries, Inc. for the provision of catered meals—including breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks—for Head Start and Early Head Start students residing on-site. The contract, valued at approximately $391,666.91, will span three years, with the possibility of extension, scope adjustments, and increased funding based on changing needs and conditions. This procurement is justified under the County’s procurement policy as a noncompetitive award because Metropolitan Ministries currently leases classroom space from the County and operates an on-site commercial kitchen, making them the exclusive provider of these meals. The meals will adhere to the standards set by the State of Florida Child Care Food Program, ensuring nutritional and regulatory compliance. Interested parties who believe they can provide similar services must submit a formal challenge with supporting evidence before the deadline, November 5, 2024. The County will review any challenges to determine if genuine competition exists. The contract details, including the solicitation number SS-25-00010 and relevant contact information, are publicly available, and the County reserves the right to modify the scope or extend the contract period as needed. This arrangement underscores the County’s intent to maintain consistent, compliant meal services for its early childhood programs through a sole source agreement with Metropolitan Ministries.
