Morrision Creek and Beach Lake Levee Resiliency Project

The Morrison Creek and Beach Lake Levee Resiliency Project, managed by the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency, involves comprehensive infrastructure improvements along a 3.7-mile stretch of levee in Sacramento County, California. The scope of work includes raising approximately 17,550 linear feet of existing levees through crown regrading and minor landside slope fills, as well as the removal and replacement of 1,279 linear feet of floodwalls and the construction of 437 linear feet of new floodwalls. Additional technical requirements include landside slope flattening, the repair of a Union Pacific Railroad stoplog structure, and the construction of a new levee turnaround. The project also integrates nature-based solutions to enhance ecological function and long-term resilience. The project is governed by the California Environmental Quality Act, with a Mitigated Negative Declaration approved on September 17, 2026, to address potential impacts on biological, cultural, geological, and hydrological resources. Performance is centered in Sacramento, extending from State Route 160 near Cliff's Marina to approximately 0.75 miles north of Cosumnes River Boulevard. Coordination involves multiple agencies, including the USACE, USFWS, and FEMA, with administrative oversight provided by the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency and consulting support from GEI Consultants.
