Moss Landing Tide Gate Repair

The Monterey County Water Resources Agency is initiating the Moss Landing Tide Gate Repair project to restore the facility to its original operational condition. Located at the Moss Landing Harbor and Moro Cojo Slough in Monterey County, California, the project focuses on replacing three existing culverts, each 70 linear feet in length, which have exceeded their serviceable lifespan. The primary objective is to prevent seawater from Moss Landing Harbor from entering the Moro Cojo Slough, thereby protecting critical brackish water habitats for federally listed species and preventing water quality degradation in alignment with the Moro Cojo Slough Enhancement and Management Plan. This project is classified under NAICS code 237990 and is currently listed as a forecast. Because the work is limited to restoring the function of an existing facility without expanding its footprint or use, it qualifies for a CEQA exemption as a Class 1 existing facility.
