Full Description

The purpose of this project is to acquire a navigation software solution that meets applicable maritime standards and the operational requirements of the United States Coast Guard (USCG). The software must support a range of equipment configurations based on platform-specific mission requirements—from basic navigation capabilities for smaller boats to integrated, multi-user systems for larger cutters.
The navigation software will provide users with accurate and timely information to support the safe navigation and operation of Coast Guard boats and cutters. It will also promote fleet-wide standardization, improving consistency for both system operators and maintainers.
A typical configuration will integrate Global Positioning System (GPS) capabilities compatible with other Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), radar, depth-sensing equipment, and heading sensors. The system will also interface with external Automatic Identification System (AIS) and Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment to obtain and display target data.
The navigation system shall support data distribution through the following protocols and standards: • Multicast User Datagram Protocol (UDP) • Unicast UDP • Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), operating as a client • TCP/IP, operating as a server • National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) 0183 • NMEA 0183-HS (high-speed) • NMEA OneNet • NMEA 2000
