QBI Topic Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V)

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is soliciting proposals under solicitation DARPA-PA-26-02-01 for the Quantum Benchmarking Initiative Topic (QBIT) to provide Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) support. The primary objective is to evaluate progress toward the development of industrially useful, utility-scale quantum computers without delaying existing research and development efforts. Selected performers will provide critical infrastructure, including computing, space, power, and cooling resources, and develop testing and evaluation tools to augment the QBI Test and Evaluation Team. Required expertise spans systems engineering for large-scale facilities, high-performance computing, quantum information science, and hardware design and validation. This opportunity will result in an award of an Other Transaction (OT) for Research project. The submission process begins with a mandatory abstract, which must be submitted via the Broad Agency Announcement Tool and is evaluated based on the value added to existing QBI IV&V efforts. Full proposals are only accepted from invited organizations. Evaluation criteria for full proposals emphasize technical feasibility, scientific validation and reproducibility, and a realistic, affordable budget. Key requirements include CMMC Level 1 compliance, the ability to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and adherence to strict organizational conflict of interest (OCI) mitigation plans. All generated data is expected to be delivered with Unlimited Rights, and DARPA must grant permission before any results are published.

Firefox Proposers Day

The Firefox Program, managed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Biological Technologies Office (BTO), is a 36-month research and development initiative designed to prove and de-risk a technology pathway for a high-channel non-invasive brain-computer interface with single-neuron spatiotemporal resolution. The program is structured into three 12-month phases and is divided into two parallel technical areas: Technical Area 1, which focuses on the expansive scanning and rastering of a coherent optical beam, and Technical Area 2, which focuses on the development of analog data processing architectures. Under Special Notice DARPA-SN-26-112 and Amendment 01, DARPA is hosting an in-person Proposers Day on September 21, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM EDT at the SPA Arlington Research Collaboration Center in Arlington, Virginia. The event is intended to introduce the program vision, explain DARPA mechanics, and facilitate teaming through a poster session. Advance registration is required by September 11, 2026, with a limit of three attendees per organization.
