Nimbus Flat Beach Maintenance Project

The Nimbus Flat Beach Maintenance Project aims to ensure safe and accessible beach areas at Lake Natoma within the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area for State Park staff, visitors, and rowing events. To facilitate this work, the California Department of Parks and Recreation will coordinate with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to temporarily lower the lake pool elevation below its permitted level for the duration of the project. The maintenance will involve the use of heavy equipment and hand tools to remove exposed river cobble using a rock screen bucket, relocate the cobble to other shoreline areas, and spread up to 2,400 cubic yards of decomposed granite across the beach to create a stable, usable surface.
