The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic (SSC-LANT) plans to issue a modification increasing the overall ceiling of several multiple award contracts (N65236-06-D-8142 through N65236-06-D-8148) with various contractors including Caprock Government Solutions, L-3 Global Communications Solutions (L3-GCS), Globecomm Systems, SWE-DISH Satellite Systems, Tampa Microwave Lab, Telecommunications Systems, and United Electronics Corporation. This ceiling increase amounts to $7 million and is specifically intended for the purchase of additional 1.2M satellite communication terminals with spares and options, which will be sole sourced to L-3 GCS. The L3-GCS terminal is notably the only one certified by the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) authorized for use on the Special Operations Command (SOCOM) and Military Information Support Organization (MISO) satellite networks. This notice clarifies that it is not a request for competitive proposals but an intent to modify existing contract ceilings. Comments on this intent are to be submitted by January 4, 2012, to the designated point of contact at SSC-LANT. The action underscores the strategic importance of the 1.2M L3-GCS terminals for critical military satellite communications, reflecting a focused procurement effort to equip specialized command units with certified and interoperable satellite technology.
