AI Contract Overview
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical Center plans to acquire an Element HT5+ Veterinary Hematology Analyzer for the Quezado Lab through a sole source, firm fixed price purchase order awarded to Antech in Arvada, Colorado. This upgraded model is critical for ongoing experiments as it offers enhanced capabilities, including fast and precise reticulocyte counting, which aligns with previous use of Antech’s HT5 analyzer and is essential for maintaining consistency and accuracy in blood parameter measurements. The machine’s advanced technology is expected to improve laboratory throughput and productivity by providing additional blood composition data points vital to the research. This procurement is conducted under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures, allowing a sole source award without competitive solicitation due to the unique requirement and the vendor being the only reasonably available source. Although this is a notice of intent and not a solicitation, interested parties may express their interest and capabilities by the specified deadline. Comments must be submitted to the NIH Office of Purchasing and Contracts by June 17, 2026, with Kristin Nagashima serving as the contract specialist point of contact. The place of performance is Bethesda, Maryland, with this acquisition falling under NAICS code 339112 for surgical and medical instrument manufacturing.
