AI Contract Overview
The National Institutes of Health Clinical Center intends to award a sole-source, one-year fixed price purchase order to Laboratory Corporation of America for service and support of the Vantera Nuclear Magnetic Resonance analyzer used in patient care testing. This instrument is essential for performing lipoprotein particle quantification, including detailed measurements of HDL, LDL, and VLDL subfractions, and no other commercial device can replicate this functionality. As the exclusive provider of service for the Vantera system, LabCorp is the only viable source, justifying a non-competitive acquisition under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures, which exempts the requirement for full competition since the purchase does not exceed the simplified acquisition threshold. The contract is classified under Product Service Code 6515 and NAICS Code 339112, with performance located at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Solicitation documents will not be issued, and no formal quotations are being requested, but interested parties may submit comments or capabilities to the contracting office prior to the deadline of May 20, 2026. All feedback must reference solicitation number 26-005105 and be directed to Kristin Nagashima via email. The government retains full discretion over whether to proceed with the sole-source award based on any responses received.
