Recommending contractor response to repair leaking Boiler 60 tube located in Building P-1. Boiler 60 is currently not certified due to tube leak found during overhaul and internal inspection performed on August 2024. This leak has since been adjudicated and during the operational testing on February 2025, a new leak was found on the same tube that was repaired. The repair of the tube requires an ‘R’ stamp qualified welder in accordance with ASME requirements. Boiler 60 requires certification to support heating season during natural gas curtailment and provide redundancy in operable boilers in Naval Station Norfolk. Tube in Boiler 60 located in Building P-1 is leaking and needs repair from a ASME, 'R' stamp qualified, welder. The leaking tube in Boiler #60 needs to be repaired in order to pass boiler certification in order to support heating season during natural gas curtailment. In addition, a certified Boiler #60 increases the reliability of steam production in Naval Station Norfolk. Required completion date is 3/25/2025, if not completed there will be a decrease in steam production reliability as the boilers in P-1 goes on-line when the CoGen facility and Boiler 26 in Z-312 are down. The repair of the tube requires an ‘R’ stamp qualified welder in accordance with ASME requirements. Boiler 60 requires certification to support heating season during natural gas curtailment and provide redundancy in operable boilers in Naval Station Norfolk.
