The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, through its Division of Oil & Gas Resources Management (DOGRM), is soliciting bids for a specialized training course in Bond Log Interpretation. This training is designed to enhance the proficiency of DOGRM staff in wellbore cementing and the use of bond logging tools, an essential aspect of resource management in the oil and gas industry. The course will occur over three days from March 10th to 12th, 2025, at the New Philadelphia Office in Ohio, accommodating both in-person and virtual attendance via Teams. The initiative allows recording for future reference, distributed PowerPoint presentations post-training, and continued learning through subsequent Teams meetings. The training encompasses an extensive curriculum that includes reviewing cementing procedures, best practices, and challenges associated with isolating flow zones. Participants will gain insights into the fundamentals, functionality, and application of Cement Bond Logs (CBL) and Radial Bond Logs. The course covers interpretation methods from basic to advanced, focusing on parameters such as travel time, temperature, amplitude, and variable density in evaluating zonal isolation and bond quality. Additionally, the course will delve into ultrasonic logs and their interpretation, alongside practical team exercises with real log data, guided by DOGRM instructors. This training aims to familiarize staff with identifying various formation signatures, free pipe, micro-annulus, cement channels, and ideal cement conditions, thereby equipping them with the knowledge to determine the integrity and quality of cement bonds in wellbore environments.
