The contract mandates that all software code developed under the Navy Program Executive Office (PEO) for Command, Control, Communication, Computers, Intelligence (C4I) and Space be stored in the software component library on the Distributed Development Website Environment (DDWE) with unlimited data rights. This initiative aims to promote an open and agile software development environment within the PEO (C4I & Space) product line by centralizing new and selected existing software components on the DDWE platform. The requirement for government unrestricted data and software rights ensures greater flexibility and control over the software assets developed for this program. The DDWE serves as a collaborative environment where software development takes place, encouraging continuous improvement and sharing of components across the domain. Contractors involved in either new developments or existing software components are encouraged to engage with the program by contacting the designated point of contact, Mr. Ed Wunner, to request access and discuss participation details. The contract reflects the Department of Defense's commitment to modernizing naval software infrastructure through enhanced accessibility, reuse, and adaptability of software code within the Naval Information Warfare Systems office based in San Diego, California.
