The California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Region 3 Bay Delta, has entered into Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS-CCA-49807-R3 with Eco Services Operations Corp, represented by Neil Baranik. Located in Martinez, California, the Peyton Slough Remediation Project 2025 focuses on critical remediation activities designed to protect the integrity of a soil cap over the former location of Peyton Slough. The primary objective is to prevent the release of legacy copper and zinc contaminants into the surrounding environment, including the current Peyton Slough, the Carquinez Strait, and adjacent salt marsh wetlands. To achieve these goals, the project will utilize excavators to place clean Bay mud in areas where unequal settlement and ponding could compromise the cap. Additionally, six-foot polyvinyl chloride sheet pile walls will be installed using push or vibratory methods. The project has been determined to be categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act pursuant to California Code of Regulations Title 14, section 15330. Coordination for the project is managed by Senior Environmental Scientist Mia Bianchi.
