R--RESIDENT RESEARCH ASSOCIATESHIP PROGRAM

The Fleet and Industrial Supply Center in San Diego, Seal Beach Division plans to award a sole source contract to the National Academy of Sciences/National Research Council (NAS/NRC) to support the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, specifically for its Resident Research Associateship Program. The contract is expected to run from January 1, 2006, through December 31, 2006, with four additional one-year option periods. It will be a cost reimbursement type contract without fee, structured as an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) agreement. NAS/NRC is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing science and technology, and this sole source procurement is justified under the authority that allows contracting without competition when only one source is capable of providing the services required.
