Rebuild 30-Inch M&H Check Valve – Tar River Water Supply Reservoir Dam

The City of Rocky Mount is seeking a qualified fabricator to rebuild a 30-inch M&H check valve for use at the Tar River Reservoir Dam Raw Water Intake, with the final delivery to the Tar River Reservoir Water Treatment Plant at 4489 Leaston Rd., Rocky Mount, NC 27803. The scope of work requires the complete disassembly, machining, fabrication, and reassembly of the valve, including the provision of all new components such as a valve shaft, two bronze body bushings, new gland bushings, a body seat ring, a replaced swing seat with newly drilled bolt holes, new keys, and the removal and replacement of old set screws in the armature. The valve body lid must be machined and sleeved, old bolts extracted, and all surfaces prepared to restore the valve to operational condition. The final rebuilt valve must be coated per manufacturer or industry standards and delivered within ninety days of contract award. The City will handle offloading using its own forklift. The solicitation requires vendors to provide itemized pricing for all labor, parts, materials, and equipment as either a lump sum or not-to-exceed amount, with bids due by July 22, 2026, submitted via email to Fantashia Dickens. Proposals must include lead and delivery timelines, confirmation of relevant licensing and qualifications, and references demonstrating experience rebuilding 24-inch or larger check valves for public-sector water utilities. Contractors must be licensed and qualified in machining, fabrication, and coating, and all work must comply with applicable state and local procurement requirements, municipal purchasing standards, and generally accepted valve and pressure-piping repair practices.
