RNomics Outreach and Coordination (ROC) Center

The NIH Common Fund, in collaboration with other NIH Institutes and Centers, is preparing to launch the RNomics program to advance the study of the complete RNA landscape in biological systems, encompassing sequences, modifications, structures, locations, interactions, and functions. This initiative will foster the development of transformative tools and resources to enable integrated analysis of the RNome, with the goal of deepening understanding of human health and disease. The program will consist of four components: technology enhancement centers, transformative technologies, molecular standards, and a coordinating center, though no applications are currently being accepted. This notice serves to inform potential applicants and encourage the formation of collaborations and robust research proposals ahead of future funding opportunities. The RNomics Outreach and Coordination (ROC) Center will act as the central hub for the consortium, responsible for data management, community engagement, and cross-project coordination. It will build and maintain a centralized data portal, establish and promote standardized data formats, coordinate the validation and benchmarking of RNA technologies, and lead large-scale data analyses across the program. The ROC Center will also drive outreach, training, and resource sharing initiatives to broaden adoption of RNomics tools and ensure the long-term accessibility and sustainability of all generated data assets.
