AI Contract Overview
The NIH Common Fund, in collaboration with multiple NIH Institutes and Centers, is preparing to launch the RNomics program to advance the study of the complete RNA landscape within cells and tissues, encompassing sequences, modifications, structures, locations, interactions, and functions. This initiative aims to generate transformative tools and resources that enable integrated analysis of the RNome to deepen understanding of health and disease. The program will be structured around four components: technology enhancement centers, transformative technologies, molecular standards, and a coordinating center. While no applications are currently being accepted, this forecast provides early visibility to allow potential applicants time to build strong collaborations and refine project ideas. The RNomics Outreach and Coordination (ROC) Center will serve as the central hub for the initiative, responsible for managing data infrastructure, promoting community engagement, and ensuring cross-project integration. It will develop a unified data portal, establish and support data standards, coordinate validation and benchmarking of technologies, lead large-scale data analysis efforts, and deliver training and outreach to the scientific community. The ROC Center will also be tasked with planning the long-term sustainability, accessibility, and maintenance of all RNomics data assets. Information for interested parties is available through the designated point of contact at cfrnomics@od.nih.gov, with the official solicitation expected to be released after the forecast posting date of August 5, 2026.

Full Description
The NIH Common Fund, in partnership with other NIH Institutes and Centers, plans to issue Notices of Funding Opportunity (NOFOs) for the RNomics program, which seeks to develop tools for studying the full set of RNA molecules (the RNome) in cells and tissues. The program will support technologies and resources that enable integrated analysis of RNA sequences, modifications, structures, locations, interactions, and functions to advance understanding of health and disease. RNomics includes four initiatives: technology enhancement centers, transformative technologies, molecular standards, and a coordinating center. Applications are not being solicited at this time. This notice is being provided to give potential applicants time to develop meaningful collaborations and strong projects.
This NOFO will establish the RNomics Outreach and Coordination (ROC) Center. The ROC Center will serve as the consortium's hub for data management, coordination, and community engagement. It will develop a central RNomics data portal, support the development and use of data standards, coordinate technology validation and benchmarking, lead consortium-wide data analysis, and support outreach, training, and sharing of RNomics resources. The center will also plan for long-term availability and maintenance of RNomics data assets.
