Routine Maintenance on Bayside Creeks Project

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS-SMO-48830-R3 for the Routine Maintenance on Bayside Creeks Project. This agreement, issued pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602, was approved on April 18, 2024, for the San Mateo County Flood and Sea Level Rise Resiliency District. The project is strictly limited to routine maintenance activities across several waterbodies in San Mateo County, including San Bruno Creek, San Mateo Creek, Belmont Creek, Cordilleras Creek, and the Atherton Channel. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife, acting as the Responsible Agency, determined that the project will not have a significant environmental effect within its jurisdiction after reviewing the Lead Agency's environmental impact report. The scope of work involves specific maintenance locations, such as San Bruno Creek at 7th Street, San Mateo Creek at both Arroyo Court and Highway 101, Belmont Creek at Sem Lane and Highway 101, Cordilleras Creek at El Camino Real, and Atherton Channel at Haven Avenue. While the project was approved without the adoption of a Mitigation Reporting or Monitoring Plan or a Statement of Overriding Considerations, the approval is subject to the implementation of specific mitigation measures as required conditions. Detailed environmental documentation, including the Final EIR, is maintained by the Lead Agency.
