The Project involves the construction of a new ozonation facility, a new utility/fire water pump station, and repairs to existing treatment facilities at the Sunol Valley Water Treatment Plant which overall will improve its operation and functions.
The Project will result in impacts to 1.01 acres of California tiger salamander (Ambystoma californiense) and Alameda whipsnake (Masticophis lateralis euryxanthus) habitat including 0.96 acres of permanent impacts and 0.05 acres of temporary impacts. The Project is expected to result in incidental take of California tiger salamander and Alameda whipsnake, which are designated as threatened species under CESA. The Project is also expected to result in incidental take of golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), which is designated as fully protected under Fish and Game Code section 3511, subdivision (b), due to nest disturbance. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA for the salamander and whipsnake and under Fish and Game Code section 2081.15 for the eagle that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
