The Sacramento County Department of Airports (SCDA) plans to design and construct a new Airfield Maintenance (AFMX) facility in the north airfield area. The main building includes offices, conference rooms, a break room, locker rooms, as well as specialized shop spaces, equipment bays, an emulsion cleanout area, and a loading dock. Currently a fence surrounds the project site that sequesters it from the Aircraft Operations Area (AOA), making the project site landside. The site will remain landside through the construction phase. Once construction is complete, the AOA fence will be moved to encompass the AFMX and it will become airside. Existing gates will be removed from the landside access area on the east side of the project site and new gates will be installed on the west end to allow airside access to the AFMX.
