The Project includes initial restoration activities and subsequent monitoring and maintenance activities. Initial restoration activities include: removal and disposal of 1,000 cubic yards of debris within a 0.24-acre area; smoothing and scarification of soil; installation of biodegradable erosion control materials; removal of invasive nonnative plants with manual and chemical methods; installation of locally-native container plants; installation of willow (Salix spp.) and cottonwood (Populus spp.) hardwood stakes; application of wood chip mulch; hydroseeding with a locally native seed mix; installation of a temporary at-grade drip irrigation system; and installation of browse protection cages. Monitoring and maintenance activities include: monthly inspections of the Project site; adaptive management of invasive non-native plants; adjustment and removal of browse protection cages; adjustment and removal of the temporary at-grade drip irrigation system; application of additional wood chip mulch; application of supplemental water; installation of additional locally-native container plants or hardwood stakes; and reseeding. Supplemental water for the temporary on-grade drip irrigation system will be sourced from a water truck or temporary water tank. The Project does not include the diversion of water from the Salinas River.
