SamTrans will modify the front entrance at South Base to provide effective access control, improve traffic flow, and better protect vital District infrastructure/assets. Work involved with this project includes demolishing and reconfiguring the main entry gate and guardhouse. This includes, but is not limited to, installation of a powered main gate, powered barrier arms, a new approximately 90 square-foot (sf) prefabricated guardhouse, new landscaping, traffic delineation improvements such as concrete islands, striping, roadway repaving, and related concrete foundations and electrical components and infrastructure to create a functioning entrance.
