Sly Park Recreation Area Pinecone Campground Drainage Ditch Restoration

The El Dorado Irrigation District is undertaking the Sly Park Recreation Area Pinecone Campground Drainage Ditch Restoration project to address flooding and stormwater infiltration issues at a restroom facility. Located in Pollock Pines, El Dorado County, the project involves excavating and restoring an existing drainage ditch that has become obstructed by sediment and debris. The scope of work includes using an excavator with a hydraulic hammer, hand-held jackhammers, and hand tools to clear the channel, excavating it to a depth of 6 to 12 inches, and lining it with 4-inch rock. Additionally, a drainage swale will be excavated and paved within the existing roadway adjacent to the restroom. All excavated materials will be removed from the immediate site and dispersed at an appropriate location within the Sly Park Recreation Area. This project is classified as a Categorical Exemption under CCR Title 14, Section 15301, as it involves the maintenance of existing facilities without significant environmental impact or expansion. The work is scheduled to be performed by District staff over a period of 3 to 5 days during the fall of 2025.
