Southern California Ignition Reduction Project – Phase I

Caltrans District 8 is proposing the Southern California Ignition Reduction Project Phase I to implement vegetation fuel reduction treatments along Interstate-15 through Cajon Pass, State Route-138, and State Route-18. These activities will take place within the Front County and Mountaintop Ranger Districts of the San Bernardino Forest, focusing on roadside shoulders and center medians. The project aims to reduce wildfire ignition and spread by clearing vegetation management strips, removing invasive and flash fuels, and selectively thinning vegetation to improve roadside conditions and conserve native plant communities. This forecast project is managed by the California Department of Transportation, District 8, with Malisa Lieng serving as the primary point of contact. The performance of the contract will occur within the state of California.
