AI Contract Overview
The City of Ontario’s Public Works Department is soliciting bids for the resurfacing of sports courts at four municipal parks—John Galvin Park, Cypress Park, Bon View Park, and De Anza Park—with a total area of approximately 55,930 square feet. The scope includes fully grinding down all existing surfaces to bare concrete before applying new resurfacing materials. Court color specifications are clearly defined: basketball courts across all locations will be finished in green and blue with a grey border, while the three tennis courts at John Galvin Park will be dark blue with a green border. The contractor is required to provide one gallon of each color used for touch-ups or future maintenance. The project demands proven experience in similar commercial sport court resurfacing, with all work performed on City-owned property and subject to strict compliance with the specified finishing standards. Bidders must submit proposals exclusively through the Planet Bids electronic system, and failure to obtain a valid confirmation number with a timestamp by the deadline will result in automatic disqualification. The City places full responsibility on bidders to ensure their systems are capable of uploading documents and maintaining stable internet connectivity, with no exceptions granted for technical failures or late submissions. The bid must be accompanied by a 10 percent bid bond, and all proposals are subject to rigorous compliance with municipal requirements outlined in the contract’s special provisions. These include mandatory insurance coverage of $1 million in general liability and automobile liability, workers’ compensation as required by law, naming the City as an additional insured, and providing a waiver of subrogation. The contractor is also required to indemnify the City against all claims arising from the work, cannot assign the contract without prior written consent, and must adhere to strict performance timelines. Although no formal evaluation factors, award basis, or federal acquisition regulation clauses are included, the solicitation explicitly references compliance with local licensing, tax, and bonding obligations. Pricing details are not disclosed in the solicitation, indicating a competitive bid process based on technical qualification and cost. The submission deadline is June 10, 2026, at 10:00 p.m., and all inquiries must be directed to the City’s Purchasing Department or Planet Bids for system support, with no guarantees provided for resolution of technical issues before the deadline.
