Full Description

New telemetered gage station positioned within the Zone 7 right-of-way along Dublin Creek. This gage will allow for stage and precipitation data to be collected and telemetered real-time into a Zone 7 data dashboard viewing website for the benefit of agency staff and the public. The station will be equipped with the following: (2) pressure transducer (PT) probes for measuring stage; (1) tipping bucket instrument for measuring precipitation; datalogger and modem for data telemetry; a solar panel and 12-volt battery for powering the station; protective conduit for the 2 PT probes; mounting hardware equipment; an enclosure box for the instruments; galvanized pipe for mounts; crest stage gages; and staff plates. A tagline/pulley system for flow measurements will be installed 15-30 feet upstream of the staff plates with the static line above the top of bank elevation. The mounting structure for the equipment enclosure box, solar panel and tipping bucket requires that the 2 galvanized pipe mounts be vertically set with concrete in manually dug footings with hole dimensions of 3-4 feet by 1-2 feet wide for each pipe. The (6) 1.5 galvanized pipe mounts for the staff plates and tagline/pulley system will be driven down into the channel bank to adequate depth with a gas-powered handheld post driver. Once construction is complete, the station equipment will be installed within the equipment housing. Ongoing operations and maintenance of this station may require staff to enter the riparian corridor where the PT probes are placed; no impacts are expected from routine operations and maintenance. The overall working footprint dimension for the structures is approximately 50 square feet. This project will have minimal/ no impact on baseline noise and riparian vegetation. The gas-powered post driver pounding into the pipe is expected to be the largest temporary noise contributor to the project, which may emit approximately 100 dBs of noise for 5-10 minutes at a time for mounting the (6) 1.5 galvanized pipes into the left and right banks of Dublin Creek. The protective conduit and staff plate post mountings were strategically chosen to avoid the removal of any riparian vegetation. The target construction date is set for Fall 2025, and it will take approximately 3 days to construct the gage housing equipment, then approximately 2 days to install the gaging and telemeter equipment. Surveying and leveling the station will take 1 day.
