McKinney ISD encompasses approximately 109 square miles in Collin County, Texas, and serves more than 24,000 students. The District serves the City of McKinney and portions of the municipalities of New Hope, Allen, Fairview, Princeton, Weston, Lucas, and Lowry Crossing. MISD operates fifteen (17) elementary schools, five (5) middle schools, three (3) high schools, two (2) alternative campuses, and one (1) early childhood education center. MISD has ownership of a fleet of buses and expects the fleet utilized under the terms of this contract to be used solely and exclusively for the transportation needs of the District. Any deviation from this expectation to be proposed by the Contractor should be included in the proposal and clarified with pricing implications clearly identified. Transportation services are currently provided under contract by Durham School Services. Operations are based from one MISD-owned terminal located at 3251 James Pitts Drive, McKinney, Texas. The fleet includes 180 buses, consisting of 130 owned by MISD and 50 owned by Durham School Services, operating approximately 165 routes per day. These routes run 109 regular education three-tier routes, with an additional 56 special needs routes performed daily. In addition, these buses are used for back-up and field trips, as well as academic shuttles during the school day.
