Full Description

The Substation Program consists of planned developments and conceptual improvements to the LADWP distribution system through the planning horizon year 2045. To keep pace with the City’s growing electricity needs and reduce strain on the existing system, LADWP proposes to modernize its distribution system by constructing four new distributing substations to serve the Sun Valley, Silver Lake, Southeast Los Angeles, and Wilmington areas, and improving existing distributing substations and receiving substations. These improvements would take place in the LADWP in-basin service area, which covers the City of Los Angeles, and focus on relieving overloaded facilities, modernizing aging equipment, and meeting the City’s growing electricity needs to ensure reliable power delivery into the future.
