Sun City Lincoln Hills Beaver Coexistence Project (Notification of Lake or Streambed Alteration, No. EPIMS-PLA-67624-R2)

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMSPLA-67642-R2 with the Sun City Hills Community Association for the Sun City Lincoln Hills Beaver Coexistence Project in Lincoln, California. This project involves the installation of five pond leveler devices designed to manage beaver dams. Each device consists of high-density polyethylene double-walled corrugated pipes ranging from 8 to 12 inches in diameter, placed across hand-cut notches in the dams and protected by beaver exclusion cages at the upstream intake. To ensure stability, the pipes will be supported by t-posts in an X configuration and anchored with small concrete blocks. All installation work is required to be performed using hand tools to minimize environmental impact. The project is managed by the Fish and Wildlife Region 2 Northern Central office in Rancho Cordova, with Patrick Moeszinger serving as the Senior Environmental Scientist and Jeff Caponera acting as the project proponent.
