Tahoe Keys Marina Redevelopment Project

Tahoe Keys SMI, LLC is proposing a major redevelopment of the Tahoe Keys Marina to modernize and revitalize its landside infrastructure, replacing outdated facilities with new, compliant, and functional structures. The project entails demolishing three existing marina buildings, ancillary structures, parking lots, and utilities, and constructing a 52,600-square-foot indoor boat storage facility equipped with water tanks, three new units of workforce housing to replace those being removed, and dedicated spaces for restaurants, retail, concessions, and boat sales. The plan includes upgraded utilities such as new water connections to municipal mains on Venice Drive East and Tahoe Keys Boulevard, relocated boat launch and gantry crane systems, and replacement of the lagoon-facing bulkhead. A central focus of the redevelopment is enhancing environmental compliance by implementing water quality best management practices and measures to prevent and control aquatic invasive species. The project is being led by the City of South Lake Tahoe, with the planning manager and development lead serving as primary contacts for coordination and inquiries. The anticipated timeline places the project announcement in mid-2026, with all construction and improvements centered in South Lake Tahoe, California, at the existing marina site.
