The Town of Coaldale is seeking proposals for the purchase of one front-mounted, 9-foot commercial mower with a cab, intended for use by the Parks department in maintaining various greenspaces including sports fields, parks, pathways, and boulevards. This mower will replace an existing John Deere 1585 Terrain Cut and must be versatile enough to operate year-round, handling summer field mowing and winter sidewalk snow removal. The machine needs to be compact, with a width under 5 feet, to navigate through gates, fences, and landscaping obstacles, as well as on sidewalks during winter operations. It should be compatible with multiple attachments such as a rotary mower, snow blade, sweeper, and potentially a snow blower, and proposals should include consideration of replacement part pricing and availability. Additionally, the Town places a high priority on the ease of maintenance and minimizing downtime, emphasizing features like easy blade access, efficient deck cleaning, and other conveniences that reduce operational interruptions. The ability to easily load and unload the mower onto a trailer is also important. Warranty timeliness and repair responsiveness will factor into the evaluation, reflecting the Town’s intention to integrate this mower into their fleet for an extended period. Responses to this solicitation must be submitted by February 5, 2026, and inquiries can be directed to the designated Contracting Authority, Terry May.

This Request for Proposal (“the RFP”) issued by the Town of Coaldale (the “Town”) is an invitation to submit non-binding offers for the provision of One (1) 9’ Sports Field Commercial Mower for use in Town operations. Scope The objective of this project is to purchase One (1) Front Mounted Commercial Mower with Cab to be used in Town Operations primarily by the Parks department. The Town maintains a wide array of greenspaces from sports fields and parks to pathways and boulevards currently using a John Deere 1585 Terrain Cut that we are looking to replace. This unit will be used throughout the summer for cutting fields and boulevards and in the winter for sidewalk snow removal. This unit will continuously run throughout the year. The Mower will need to be maneuverable enough to navigate through gates and around fences, trees, park benches and different landscaping obstacles. It will also need to be small enough, less than 5’ wide, to navigate Town sidewalks in the winter and come with an assortment of attachments including; a rotary mower, snow blade, sweeper and potentially a snow blower. Replacement part pricing and availability will also be considered. The ease in which the unit can be loaded/unloaded onto a trailer will be considered. We are also looking at the ease of maintenance for this machine as downtime throughout our summer/winter seasons is a concern. The ability for the operator to keep the decks clean, the ease of which blades are accessed and any conveniences that minimize the mower downtime (ie. Air intake blow back) are well regarded. As this unit will be in our fleet for a number of years the timeliness of warranty and repair work will be weighed as well.
