AI Contract Overview
The National Institute on Aging (NIA) plans to launch a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to establish a Translational Center focused on advancing the use of Digital Health Technologies (DHT) data in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and AD-Related Dementias (ADRD) research. This Center will create a cloud-based, federated data repository designed to support secure storage, processing, and multi-modal integration of both legacy and new DHT data. The infrastructure aims to be Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR), facilitating accelerated translational and clinical research by enabling better accessibility and integration of diverse DHT data sets generated by NIH-supported and other funded studies. Applications are not currently being solicited; this announcement serves to inform researchers and encourage collaboration development ahead of the forthcoming NOFO, which will use the U54 activity code. Investigators with relevant expertise in aging research and digital health technology data are invited to prepare for submission. The initiative is overseen by the National Institutes of Health under the Department of Health and Human Services, with Dr. Nadezda Radoja serving as the primary point of contact for interested parties seeking additional information.

Full Description
The National Institute on Aging (NIA) intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) that aims to establish a multi-component Translational Center for Accelerating the Use of Digital Health Technologies (DHT) Data in Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and AD-Related Dementias (ADRD) research. The purpose of the Center is to develop infrastructure, methods, and best practices for hosting, discovering, accessing, disseminating, and integrating multi-modal, legacy, and new DHT data, and accelerate their (re)use in translational and clinical AD/ADRD research. To this end, the Center will establish a DHT data repository as a cloud-based; federated; Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) data infrastructure for the secure storage, processing, dissemination, analysis, and multi-modal integration of legacy and new DHT data generated by AD/ADRD studies supported by NIH and other funding organizations.
Applications are not being solicited at this time. Notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive projects. This NOFO intends to utilize the U54 activity code. Investigators with expertise and insights into this area of aging research are encouraged to begin to consider applying for this new NOFO.
