Transponder Landing System (TLS)

The Department of National Defence is seeking to acquire one deployable precision approach system to support the Royal Canadian Air Force’s operations at 8 Wing Trenton. The system must offer precision approach guidance equivalent to or better than a Category I Instrument Landing System (ILS) and be compatible with multiple aircraft types without requiring any modifications to the aircraft. It must be highly mobile, rapidly deployable, and capable of operating in all weather conditions, including austere environments such as the Arctic or desert regions. This capability is intended to fill an urgent operational gap due to the temporary unavailability of fixed precision approach infrastructure at 8 Wing Trenton. The requirement supports ongoing operations under NORAD, Search and Rescue, Air Mobility, and Agile Combat Employment initiatives, ensuring continued effective and safe aircraft landing guidance.
