AI Contract Overview
The contract involves providing diagnostic services on the USCGC Stone’s steering pump system, specifically addressing a lag issue with the 2B steering pump relative to the 2A pump during turns. Currently, only one of the four pumps is fully functional, compromising the cutter’s maneuverability and safety. The vendor is required to supply a Bosch Rexroth authorized technician for one day to perform inspection, troubleshooting, and diagnostic reporting without conducting any repairs or adjustments. This work is scheduled to take place between May 26, 2026, and June 3, 2026, while the cutter is stationed at Base Charleston in North Charleston, South Carolina. The contract is designated as a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 336611, managed by the Department of Homeland Security through the SFLC Procurement Branch 2 in Alameda, California. Key points of contact include Stephen Horvath for on-scene coordination at the cutter’s location and Christian Thorn as a technical product line contact. The solicitation was posted on May 20, 2026, with a response deadline of May 26, 2026. The scope limits the technician’s role strictly to assessment and diagnostic reporting, with no authorization to perform repairs, adjustments, or parts replacements, ensuring that the vendor’s responsibility is confined to accurately identifying the cause of the pump lag issue.
