Van Sickle Bi-State Park Safety and Equitable Access Improvements Project

The Van Sickle Bi-State Park Safety and Equitable Access Improvements Project, led by the California Tahoe Conservancy, aims to enhance non-motorized access and environmental resilience on the California side of the park near Lake Tahoe. Contract performance is governed by detailed mitigation and monitoring protocols tied to cultural and biological resource protection, requiring coordination with the Washoe Tribe for cultural resource surveys and immediate cessation of work upon discovery of archaeological materials. The contractor must employ qualified professionals, including federally certified archaeologists and licensed pesticide applicators, and submit a Construction Management and Traffic Plan approved by both the City of South Lake Tahoe and TRPA. A Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan and Rain Event Action Plan are mandatory for all construction phases, with inspections and acceptance occurring on-site under the oversight of the California Tahoe Conservancy in coordination with the Department of General Services.
