AI Contract Overview
The contract seeks a contractor to perform whole-exome sequencing analysis on the NIAAA Clinical Center patient cohort to identify genetic variant differences and their correlation with treatment responses in alcohol use disorders. All samples, including the more than 2,000 previously analyzed, must be processed using the AmpliSeq Exome enrichment system and the Ion sequencing platform to ensure analytical consistency and minimize platform-specific errors that could compromise longitudinal data integrity. The work must be performed at the NIAAA facility in Bethesda, Maryland, and deliverables include comprehensive variant calling, data interpretation, and reporting aligned with prior analytical pipelines. The acquisition is governed under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures with a statutory ceiling of $350,000, and no specific contract type, period of performance, or delivery schedule is defined. Offerors must submit a technical proposal, cost-price proposal, Unique Entity ID, Taxpayer Identification Number, and certification of business size against the $34 million size standard for NAICS code 325414. Proposals must be submitted electronically by July 2, 2026, to the designated point of contact, with no paper, fax, or alternative submission methods accepted. There are no specified packaging, labeling, barcoding, or MIL-STD requirements due to the simplified nature of the procurement, and no evaluation factors, inspection criteria, or quality standards beyond the mandatory use of the specified sequencing platform are detailed. The contracting office is located at 6701 Rockledge Drive, Bethesda, MD 20817, and correspondence is handled exclusively through the designated email, with no additional points of contact or roles identified.

Full Description
The NIAAA Clinical Center patient cohort has been analyzed patients for sequence variant differences, and changes in response to treatment over the course of many years as part of an effort to identify underlying causes of alcohol related disorders. Analysis has previously been performed on over 2000 patients using the AmpliSeq Exome enrichment system and sequenced on the ION sequencing platform because it provides the capability of cost-effective high throughput whole-exome genome-wide analysis. The use of a single enrichment and sequencing platform with consistent information content is essential for analysis of samples screened at different times and it is therefore imperative for analytical integrity that all samples in the study are processed on the same sequencing platform, as each platform has a unique pattern of error
