Connect Claude Code to CLEATUS
Add the CLEATUS MCP server to Claude Code with one command, sign in once, and work your pipeline from the terminal.
Claude Code connects to CLEATUS through the CLEATUS Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. Add the server with one command and sign in once. Claude Code can then search opportunities, break down solicitations, and update your pipeline without leaving your terminal session.
Who this is for
This article is for CLEATUS users who work in Claude Code, the command-line coding agent from Anthropic.
What you'll need
- A CLEATUS account on the DATA + AI plan or higher. Your subscription must be active, or your trial must be started.
- Claude Code, installed and signed in.
Your CLEATUS sign-in is the only credential that the connection uses. You do not paste an API key.
Set up the connection
1. Add the server
Run this command in your terminal:
claude mcp add --transport http cleatus https://www.cleat.ai/api/mcp/mcp
To share the server with your team, add --scope project. Claude Code then saves it in the .mcp.json file of your project, and each teammate signs in with their own CLEATUS account.
2. Sign in
Start Claude Code and run /mcp. Select cleatus and sign in. The Connect to CLEATUS page opens in your browser. Sign in, pick the company under Select company, and click Authorize.
3. Test the connection
Ask Claude Code: "Find open federal opportunities that fit our capabilities and summarize the top five."
Let Claude Code set itself up
In CLEATUS, open Settings > Integrations. In the AI Assistants & Agents section, click the MCP card, then copy the prompt under Set up with one prompt. Paste the prompt into Claude Code. Claude Code reads the CLEATUS documentation, adds the server, opens the sign-in page, and checks the connection. You only sign in.
What Claude Code can do once connected
- Discover: Search federal, state, and local opportunities and forecasts. Get your ranked recommendations.
- Evaluate: Read the summary, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) sections, and documents of an opportunity. Research awards, agencies, contractors, and contracting officers.
- Pursue: Add opportunities to your pipeline and update pursuits. Create and assign tasks, and manage saved searches.
- Automate: Create, activate, and run your CLEATUS workflows.
Each action runs as your CLEATUS user, with the same permissions as the web app. The tools are free to call. They do not use credits.
Example prompts:
- "Search CLEATUS for open RFPs under NAICS 541512 in Virginia and Maryland."
- "Build a compliance checklist from this solicitation and create a task for each item."
- "Who won similar contracts at DHS in the last two years?"
Troubleshooting
- Claude Code finds no pipeline, tasks, or saved searches. You picked the wrong company during sign-in. Run
claude mcp remove cleatus, add the server again, and pick the correct company. - The sign-in page says "Upgrade required". The MCP server is on the DATA + AI plan and above. Upgrade your CLEATUS plan, then sign in again.
- Unauthorized errors after it worked before. The sign-in expired or was revoked. Run
/mcpand sign in again. - Still stuck? Email support@cleat.ai with the time of the failing request.
