Connect Cursor to CLEATUS

Add the CLEATUS MCP server to Cursor, sign in once, and use live contract data in the Cursor agent.

Cursor connects to CLEATUS through the CLEATUS Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. Add the server to your Cursor MCP configuration and sign in once. The Cursor agent can then search opportunities, read solicitations, and update your pipeline from the editor.

Who this is for

This article is for CLEATUS users who work in the Cursor code editor. Use it to pull CLEATUS data into scripts, reports, and internal tools while you build.

What you'll need

  • A CLEATUS account on the DATA + AI plan or higher. Your subscription must be active, or your trial must be started.
  • Cursor, with a plan that supports MCP servers.

Your CLEATUS sign-in is the only credential that the connection uses. You do not paste an API key.

Set up the connection

1. Add the server

Add CLEATUS to .cursor/mcp.json in your project, or to ~/.cursor/mcp.json to use it in every project:

{
	"mcpServers": {
		"cleatus": {
			"url": "https://www.cleat.ai/api/mcp/mcp"
		}
	}
}

If the file already lists other servers, add the cleatus entry next to them.

2. Sign in

Open the MCP settings in Cursor. The cleatus server asks you to sign in. The Connect to CLEATUS page opens in your browser. Sign in, pick the company under Select company, and click Authorize.

3. Test the connection

Ask the Cursor agent: "Query CLEATUS for open opportunities that match our profile and list the top 10."

Let Cursor set itself up

In CLEATUS, open Settings > Integrations. In the AI Assistants & Agents section, click the MCP card, then copy the prompt under Set up with one prompt. Paste the prompt into the Cursor agent. The agent reads the CLEATUS documentation, adds the server, opens the sign-in page, and checks the connection. You only sign in.

What Cursor can do once connected

  • Discover: Search federal, state, and local opportunities and forecasts. Get your ranked recommendations.
  • Evaluate: Read the summary, Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) sections, and documents of an opportunity. Research awards, agencies, contractors, and contracting officers.
  • Pursue: Add opportunities to your pipeline and update pursuits. Create and assign tasks, and manage saved searches.
  • Automate: Create, activate, and run your CLEATUS workflows.

Each action runs as your CLEATUS user, with the same permissions as the web app. The tools are free to call. They do not use credits.

Example prompts:

  • "Fetch the full detail for this solicitation and extract the evaluation criteria."
  • "Pull our pipeline and write a status report grouped by phase."

Troubleshooting

  • Cursor does not show the cleatus server. Check that the file is valid JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) and that the URL is exactly https://www.cleat.ai/api/mcp/mcp. Then reload Cursor.
  • Cursor finds no pipeline, tasks, or saved searches. You picked the wrong company during sign-in. Remove the server, add it again, and pick the correct company.
  • The sign-in page says "Upgrade required". The MCP server is on the DATA + AI plan and above. Upgrade your CLEATUS plan, then sign in again.
  • Unauthorized errors after it worked before. The sign-in expired or was revoked. Sign in to the server again from the Cursor MCP settings.
  • Still stuck? Email support@cleat.ai with the time of the failing request.
