The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), under the U.S. Department of Transportation, is authorized to purchase motor vehicles for research and testing as outlined in 49 U.S.C. § 30168. The Vehicle Research and Test Center (VRTC) in East Liberty, Ohio, will conduct a competitive procurement of various motor vehicles, ranging from passenger cars to large heavy trucks, from commercial dealers located reasonably near the VRTC to minimize transportation costs and expedite delivery. The proximity of dealers will be assessed on a case-by-case basis to best support the timely acquisition of vehicles needed for VRTC’s research activities through the end of fiscal year 2006. This procurement approach ensures compliance with competitive procedures without issuing further synopses for vehicle purchases exceeding $25,000, as this announcement serves primarily to inform interested dealers. Businesses interested in receiving notifications for specific vehicle requirements are encouraged to contact the designated Contracting Officer. The procurement is administered by the NHTSA Office of Acquisition located in Washington, D.C., and the contracting point of contact is available for communication regarding solicitations and purchase details.
