The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to negotiate and award a sole source contract to Schottel Inc for the provision of stem bearings specifically designed for the M/V Ward and M/V Lusk vessels. These stem bearings are critical components that ensure the proper functioning of the Schottel propulsion units by keeping the Z drive lower units secure and preventing irregular movement that could cause damage to the propulsion system. The contract award will follow Federal Acquisition Regulations Part 12, which governs the acquisition of commercial items, and the decision to limit competition is justified under FAR Part 6 subpart 6.302-1 due to the unique capability of Schottel Inc to fulfill this specific requirement. While this notice is not an invitation for competitive proposals, other interested firms may submit capability statements along with cost or price information by the specified deadline. However, it remains at the government’s discretion to proceed with the sole source contract without opening competition based on these submissions. The solicitations and related contract activities are managed by the W07V Endist Memphis office located in Memphis, Tennessee, under NAICS code 423860. The contract relates to the acquisition of specialized commercial stem bearings essential to maintain the integrity and performance of the vessel propulsion units.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to negotiate and award a sole source contract with Schottel Inc citing FAR part 6 subpart 6.302-1. To the best of the Government's knowledge, there are not any other firms that can satisfy this requirement. The work to be done under this contract consists of providing stem bearings for the M/V Ward and M/V Lusk. Award of this contract will be in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) Part 12, Acquisition of Commercial Items. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS, however interested firms may submit a capability statement in response to the above requirement with cost/price information by September 20, 2013 @ 10:00 AM CST to Sierra Marshall, Purchasing Agent, Phone: +1 (555) 000-0000, Fax: +1 (555) 000-0000, Email: contact@example.gov.
