AI Contract Overview

The contract involves the repair of the USAF Academy Fire Department's KME Model P24 pumper truck, specifically Engine #5. The Contracting Officer aims to encourage competition primarily within the Local Trade Area, defined as the Front Range of Colorado, by soliciting quotations from providers in that region. Due to the necessity of a detailed inspection of the vehicle for pricing, supplies and services required for the repair are available only locally. Interested parties within this area can express their capability to meet the requirements. This notice is not a solicitation for proposals but rather an intention to promote competitive quoting from the Colorado Springs to Denver metropolitan vicinity unless it is demonstrated that wider availability of comparable services would better serve the government. If no such demonstrations are received by March 24, 2008, the Contracting Officer will move forward with requesting quotations solely from reputable vendors operating within the designated Local Trade Area. The contract is issued by the Department of Defense under the solicitation number FA7000-08-T-0078, with the NAICS code 811310, which pertains to automotive repair and maintenance services. The place of performance is the USAF Academy in Colorado, highlighting the localized nature of this contract opportunity.

Full Description

Operational Contracting, US Air Force Academy has a requirement for the repair of the USAF Academy Fire Department KME Model P24 pumper truck Engine #5.The Contracting Officer intends to promote competition to the maximum extent practicable by obtaining quotations from within the Local Trade Area. That Local Trade Area would be the Front Range of Colorado. It will not be possible for a potential offeror to prepare a priced offer without a careful and detailed examination of the vehicle. Supplies and/or services are available from only within the Local Trade Area. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to meet this requirement. This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. If no response is received by March 24, 2008 to the effect that comparable services are in fact, more widely available and that those services would be more advantageous to the Government than obtaining competitive quotes from within the Local Trade Area; then the Contracting Officer will proceed with soliciting quotations from those reputable sources operating within the Colorado Springs - Denver metropolitan area.
