A--Class Design Services for the Littoral Combat Ship Class

The Naval Sea Systems Command plans to award a cost plus award fee contract to General Dynamics Bath Iron Works (GD-BIW) for comprehensive Class Design Services related to the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Class. The contract will cover fiscal years 2009 through 2013 and encompasses a wide range of services, including liaison for ship construction, class baseline design, configuration management, documentation, and potentially additional tasks such as ship interim support, technical data package development, special studies, ship transition, ship systems development, foreign military sales, budget engineering requirements, and 3-D digital product modeling. GD-BIW is uniquely qualified for this work due to its specialized knowledge and extensive experience with the design, construction, systems, and mission module interface requirements specific to its variant of the LCS Class. This contract will be awarded under a statutory authority that limits competition, as GD-BIW is the only responsible source capable of meeting these requirements.
