Beaumont Master Drainage Plan Line 2, Stage 1

The City of Beaumont plans to construct approximately 5,000 linear feet of reinforced concrete pipe ranging from 84 to 102 inches in diameter along 6th Street, Pennsylvania Avenue, and E 1st Street to manage future drainage flows. The system will include manholes placed no more than 500 feet apart for maintenance access, along with inlets and outlets designed for efficient water conveyance, featuring grated openings to reduce debris buildup. While some existing pipe segments will be demolished, the majority of current infrastructure will be preserved. Around 13,000 cubic yards of material will be excavated to facilitate installation and subgrade preparation, with roughly 5,000 cubic yards returned for backfilling. The outlets at Berkshire Avenue will be lowered by two feet and expanded in size, requiring reconstruction of headwalls and surrounding grading, with water permanently diverted from eastern channels and discharged through the updated outlets. Construction will implement traffic control measures including signage, barriers, and flaggers to ensure safety and uninterrupted access for vehicles and pedestrians. Erosion and sediment control will be maintained through best management practices such as silt fences and basins to safeguard water quality. The affected right-of-way will be restored upon completion, and the new pipes will be installed at a maximum depth of 25 feet to accommodate future utility and infrastructure upgrades.
