Bijou Park Creek Watershed Restoration Project

The Bijou Park Creek Watershed Restoration Project, managed by the City of South Lake Tahoe and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, involves the replacement of a damaged 18-inch culvert at Tamarack Avenue in El Dorado County. The primary objective is to enhance the Bijou Park Creek Stream Environment Zone by allowing overbank flows to spread north and south of the avenue rather than remaining confined. The scope of work includes removing the existing culvert and installing two 18-inch and one 24-inch culvert, each 38 feet long, featuring rock armored flared end sections. Additionally, approximately 180 linear feet of roadway will be raised by roughly one foot and repaved. This project is executed under Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification Number ELD-68107-R2, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code. The work is subject to a mitigated negative declaration and California Code of Regulations section 15096, ensuring that the project does not have a significant environmental effect within the jurisdiction of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
