The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed
Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification Number ELD-68107-R2, pursuant to
section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, City of South Lake Tahoe.
The project is limited to the replacement of an existing culvert with an expanded and enhanced
culvert crossing that benefits the Bijou Park Creek Stream Environment Zone (SEZ) by allowing
Bijou Park Creek overbank flows to continue to spread and wet the SEZ north and south of
Tamarack Avenue instead of being confined and disrupted by a single damaged culvert. The
damaged 18-inch culvert that currently conveys flow from Bijou Park Creek across Tamarack
Ave will be removed and replaced by a series of two (2) 18-inch and one (1) 24-inch culverts,
each 38-foot-long, with rock armored flared end sections. An approximate 180 linear foot section
of roadway will be raised roughly one foot and repaved.
