The United States Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center (Oakland Detachment) plans to issue a sole source contract to Peterson Power Systems, Inc. for the procurement of top-end overhaul kit parts for Caterpillar equipment, along with associated technical representative services and freight delivery to Alameda, California. This procurement is justified on the basis that Caterpillar, through Peterson Power Systems, is the original manufacturer and proprietary rights holder, making them the only viable source under FAR 6.302. The contract involves providing the necessary parts for overhauls, technical assistance for the overhaul process, and logistics support for shipment. The notice invites interested parties to submit their qualifications or proposals within ten days of the announcement to determine if a competitive procurement would be beneficial; however, offers from vendors other than Peterson Power Systems are not being solicited. If no qualified alternatives respond within the specified timeframe, the Coast Guard intends to negotiate and award the contract directly to Peterson Power Systems. The contract will be managed under NAICS code 532490 and is overseen by contracting officers based in Oakland, with points of contact provided for inquiries and submission of information. The sole source approach underscores the need to maintain compliance with proprietary rights and ensure continuity of specialized technical support for critical equipment maintenance.
