City of Rialto Urban Forest Management Plan

The City of Rialto Urban Forest Management Plan is a project led by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) focused on enhancing the city's green infrastructure. The scope of work includes updating the city's tree inventory, performing a LIDAR tree canopy analysis, and developing a comprehensive Urban Forest Management Plan. A primary component of the project is the planting and establishment of 500 15-gallon trees and the distribution of 250 5-gallon trees to residents within disadvantaged communities. To ensure sustainability and minimal environmental impact, all selected tree species must be low maintenance and drought tolerant, and all planting activities are required to be performed using hand tools. The project is located in the City of Rialto, San Bernardino County, and is classified under NAICS code 541320. According to the Notice of Exemption, the project qualifies for a Class 4 Categorical Exemption under Section 15304 for minor land alterations, as it is not expected to result in significant adverse environmental impacts. Administrative oversight is managed by CAL FIRE, with records maintained at their Sacramento headquarters. The primary point of contact for the initiative is Walter Passmore.
