City of Rialto Urban Forest Management Plan

The City of Rialto Urban Forest Management Plan is a project led by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) to enhance the local urban canopy. The scope of work includes updating the city tree inventory, performing a LIDAR tree canopy analysis, and developing a comprehensive Urban Forest Management Plan. A primary component of the project is the planting and establishment of 500 15-gallon trees and the distribution of 250 5-gallon trees to residents living in disadvantaged communities within the city. All selected tree species must be low maintenance and drought tolerant, and all planting activities are required to be completed using hand tools. The project is located in the City of Rialto, San Bernardino County, and has been granted a Class 4 Categorical Exemption under Section 15304 for minor land alterations, as no significant adverse environmental impacts are expected. Administrative oversight is managed through CAL FIRE headquarters in Sacramento.
