Collaboratively Evaluating Resource Values (CERV) program in the Kispiox Timber Supply Area

This contract involves conducting a detailed study within the ICHmc2 zone of the Kispiox Timber Supply Area, exclusively on lands belonging to the Gitxsan people. The primary objective is to gather localized data on cultural plants and wildlife usage, with an emphasis on ensuring the information is culturally relevant and informed directly by the Gitxsan community. Given the sensitivity and specificity of the data, collaboration with the Gitxsan, particularly through the Gitxsan Land and Management Office (GLMO), is essential. The GLMO, representing multiple Gitxsan Wilps, holds the authority to guide the project and is committed to working collaboratively while providing the service at a competitive cost. Their team brings expertise both in understanding the land’s values important to the Gitxsan and in conducting standard forestry measurements. The solicitation was issued by the Ministry of Forests under the Government of Canada and has a response deadline set for June 12, 2026. The contract reflects a federal initiative to assess resource values in a way that respects Indigenous knowledge and land stewardship.
